Getting Down with Porn

Whats the World Coming Too?

After watching the frontline special on sex slavery, I was surprised to find out that people actually had sex slaves.  The world has sunk that low to actually need sex that much is too shameful to think about.  Some of these girl’s real young in age are being tricked into going to work when really they are becoming sex slaves and being forced to have sex with many men.  Now to intertwine this with cyber porn, I think that the two have a lot in common.  This is because online you can find any type of fetish including rape or slavish type porn.  Now the question is that are people going to far with there sexual fantasies, to the point where it actually hurts people?  I think that they are, because in this case young girls are being forced into sex which is also called rape, and should not be allowed.  I think this frontline special was a call out to those people who are abusing these girls, and to the girls, to stop being so dumb and get their life straight.  Who knows maybe if we keep airing specials like this people will see that what they are doing is wrong and not continue doing what they are doing.

Maybe Playboy Should Be Rated G!

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on February 19, 2006

Is our idea of what is porn being changed as time goes on?  I think that it is being changed, for example Playboy isn’t even considered a porn magazine.  Many people in today’s world would say that it is just a men’s magazine because it does not depict sexual acts.  But instead shows beautiful women in the nude.  However personally I would consider it a porn magazine because it does have nudity and it is sex related.  You still have to be above 18 to purchase this magazine and like other magazines like Maxim or Stuff the purchaser does not have to be 18, and these magazines don’t show nudity.  So is our idea being changed, as a society we see the porn industry going farther and farther with how they depict the porn, so therefore as a society we don’t even see Playboy as a porn magazine?  With the world of sex as I would call it, I think that at this rate, our entire world may turn into one huge orgy, of just everyone having sex everywhere.  I really don’t think this is that good for our society so maybe something should be done in the idea of censorship.

How far is too far?

In response to lecture 9, I think that some of the points brought up are completely correct when dealing with the way society thinks.  For example it was brought up that people who like stars wars, in a way too much, take their obsession as I would call it too far.  These fans would dress up as members of star wars and engage in sexual acts.  Now what people do in there own homes is their own business and how they want to have sex is up to them.  However, these fans don’t stop their.  Because of the high demand of character porn, there is a serious of porno that deals with star wars.  Seeing that the porn business is demand based porn industries are cashing in on what their viewers want to see and in this case it is character porno from their favorite shows.

Also mentioned in this lecture was the concept of boundaries.  How far is too far is the question?  Some of the material that is being depicted can get pretty gruesome, and is just pretty much against human morals.  Sure that brings up the idea of free will, however when depicting illegal things for sick pleasure shouldn’t be allowed.  I think that if a person is wanting these types of porn than that person is mentally ill and should get help.

It May Be Art, or It May be Porn, But Its Still Money

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on February 12, 2006

In response to What is art? what is porn? And to Dr. Halavais’s lecture about art and porn, I agree that Porn could be considered art.  For myself being a film student, and always being around others who are only about creating art work with their camera, I can see where Droseblogger is coming from when they argue that porn should not be considered porn just because its not on a wall in a museum.   I see the internet as a huge museum filled with many different types of artworks from all sorts of creative minds.  However, I must go against my own believes in this case.  What makes me go against my own self believes you ask?  I believe it has to do with a thing called money.  This world being so tied up with being rich I don’t really see any porn producers in the business to make art anymore.  I see the producers taking what they see that the consumers want to see and making money out of it.  That’s not art; art is using your own creative mind to produce something that you think is beautiful.  I think that maybe when porn first started out, that it could have been possibly in the mix of being art, but with all the money that porn industries are rolling in, saying that now can be stretching the facts a little bit.

The argument that the porn on the internet should be considered art can’t be backed up.  I’m sure that their might be some sites on the internet that are only art based porn.  However a majority of the sites aren’t even accessible with out a credit card.  A lot of the sites say that they are free but they need your credit card number for verification of your age, but like everything in this world there is always a catch.  Artists aren’t all about making money, and if their work is posted on the internet it is for people to view it and not to charge people for simply viewing it for 10 minuets.  The way art works is people view pieces of work and if they are interested in having that piece of art as their own they can purchase it.  Therefore I have to go against my own believes that producing a film is a piece of art work, because art is about creativeness and skill, not about making as much money possible.

On The Frontline of Porn

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on February 12, 2006

PBS Frontline aired a special on American Porn.  This special showed how porn is viewed in America, and how it is a soaring big business.   Porn has its way with people, and because sex is a big issue in today’s world, the porn industry is soaring.  At one point during the special, it was mentioned that a 19 year old girl would make up to $4,500 dollars in one week of work.  I am 19 years old now and I only made $6,000 for the entire last year.  So many people can see why porn attracts young girls in a society hungry for wealth and fame.  Also because today’s world is a sex driven culture, many young girls that let themselves partake in porn aren’t perceived as sluts but instead are looked upon by many viewers as goddesses.  Also because America is a money driven country, these porn industries are always looking for new ways to make more money.  Because this industry is demand based, the industry is always trying to please the consumers.  In some cases this pleasing as they would call it, can get their company into trouble.  Many times companies will bend over backwards to get that edge on their competition, but sometimes that edge might not totally be legal.  I think that because it is a free world, that these companies should be able to shoot what they want, even if they are portraying a rape seen or dressing someone up to be underage.  These are all just types of characters and basically I see it as actors and actresses playing their roles in a film.

Paris Hilton’s porno controversy

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on February 6, 2006

About a year ago, Paris Hilton was involved in a controversy involving a sex tape that her and her partner produced in privacy. However the tape was turned over into the wrong hands and left Paris with a bad reputation on her hands. She was now portrayed as a “big slut” even though the best of us can get kind of freaky at times and want to produce a porno for our own pleasure. In her case because she is a celebrity it hurt her. I think that this becoming a news affair was totally irresponsible of the media and should not have been exploded as much as it was. I think no matter who the person is, celebrity or not that what they do in their own time should be their business.

However because this porno did get released it was a public affair. Although we don’t talk about other porn stars as we call them the same ways that Paris Hilton was talked about. I am a college student about her age, I know that I like to go out and have a good time, and sometimes I do things that I normally wouldn’t do. But my life is my life and no one should interfere because it’s violating my privacy. I don’t think Paris Hilton as a “slut” as some people say, I just think of her as another girl that’s just out there to have fun, and that’s exactly what she is doing.

www.godaddy.com

As I was watching the Super bowl tonight, the wings and beer were flowing through me as I was revved up to watch an amazing game of football. For me, my favorite part of watching the Super bowl is not the exciting conversation on which team is better, or the exciting plays I see. My favorite part is watching the commercials. Tonight I saw I number of different, funny commercials, ranging from car commercials to commercials advertising beer.  But there was one commercial that stuck out in my mind more vividly than the Budweiser Clydesdales; it was a commercial for an internet site called www.godaddy.com. The commercial depicted an elderly man talking to a younger, incredibly attractive woman about god knows what. The reason why I don’t know what they were talking about was because the younger woman (who was very well endowed, if you know what I mean) was wearing a white tank top which was literally bursting at the seams.

At that moment I wanted nothing more than to see this incredibly gorgeous woman become exposed, but as it was network television, I knew that wouldn’t happen. In the commercial, however, when that did happen the old man quickly reached for an oxygen mask. Then it showed the logo for the website, which turned out to be nothing more than a mere search engine. I was shocked that a search engine site would use sex like tactics in its commercial so bluntly.  Then I realized that a when I use a search engine and search for anything, 9 times out of 10 I will get a couple porn sites in my results.  So I thought that maybe this search engine site realized that most of its users are searching for sex related topics and that’s why they chose to use a sexual oriented commercial.  After all this world is all about making money, and who better to advertise to than the people that are going to be using your site.
