Getting Down with Porn

Looking outside the class!

In response to a blog that I read about Contextual ads, http://sugarbank.com/2006/04/18/contextual-ads-in-context/, I would have to agree with the writer.  They bring up some very good points on how contextual ads should follow the theme of the site.  For example if the site is about exotic pleasure a good contextual ad might be one for dildos or maybe even other sex toys.  However the way contextual ads work is they categorize what is on the site and try to get an Ad of something related.  However when the contextual ads misunderstand what is on the site, the ad might be something completely different than one that you would want on your site.   I think that with all of this recent technology that we should be able to create a system that would allow the site owner to choose exactly what type of ads that can be displayed on his site.  That would just make life to easy right!  Why would people want to make things that make sense.

Questions for Mr. Lucas

1. I have a friend who throughout high school was always questioned by everyone on his sexuality.  He was always talking about girls and how much he wanted a girlfriend.  However the way he dressed, talked and even walked made us question him.  Then one day while at a party at his house, a couple of friends and I came across some pictures of Ashley from O-town on his PC.  My question to you is do you think that maybe he is really gay, and is just scared of what the real world will think of him, so therefore will not come out and tell anyone?

2. Do you think that society has that much of an impact on the gay community, and causes them to hide their true feelings which cause unhappiness?

Zoning

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on April 19, 2006

How does zoning affect the porn industry?  It actually affects it a great amount.  This is because porn industries are restricted to certain areas that are zoned for producing pornographic films.  A person cannot just start producing pornographic films in there home with intent to sell these films for a profit.  Other rules also were implied with the zoning laws.  The courts were making sure that the zoning laws weren’t going too far.  I think that there shouldn’t be laws to where you can film. I think this because I don’t think that a person filming porno out of their own house would affect anyone else.  I think that what a person does behind the doors of their own house is there own business and should be allowed to do what they want.  Also I think that the 7 words that aren’t allowed to be said on TV is kind of bull crap.  Why can’t someone say words that are used everyday by people on TV?  Little kids here these words somehow and somewhere no matter how much you try to hide them from the real world.  I just think that some people have gone too far with there hate against “The Real World”.

A Need for Censorship!

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on April 17, 2006

How does censorship affect pornography? I think that it does affect it, because when someone puts a censor on a piece of work, than people cant view it to the fullest and may affect how much money is made off from that specific piece.  Also some people may say that censorship may go against the first amendment.  However the rule of freedom of speech or expression has an extent.  You cannot break any laws while doing so.  I think that people use the amendments as an excuse too much.  There should be limits on freedom.  Without limits people would be out of control because of the mentality that people have, that I have mentioned in so many of my blogs.  That would be the mentality that people always want more.  When dealing with porn, people need censorship, even though it will affect a total profit, some people just go too far.  People will even break laws to get that edge.  I know that I get an extra rush out of doing something illegal because of the chance of getting caught.  Like for example, drinking, I go out and party almost every weekend and I am only 20 years old, even though I know that it is illegal for me to drink for being underage I get that extra rush every time the cops come and break up the party.  The same goes for some porn viewers/producers.  They will go that extra edge to give that viewer something they normally wouldn’t be able to see because it is illegal.  So I believe censorship is needed!

Religion and Porn!

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on April 17, 2006

Some religions have some specific rules when it deals with sex.   Like Christianity where they think very negatively about pornography.  Why should it matter what the Christians think about pornography if you’re not Christian?  This is because some legal issues follow some of the religious ideas.  So maybe it should matter to an extent on what the religious ideas are.  Should something be done to control pornography?  I don’t think that pornography is the real problem.  I think that the attitude people have is the problem.  People have the attitude of wanting more, no matter what a person will always crave more.  How this deals with pornography is because when a person sees a porno they want more and more which can create a problem.  I don’t think that pornography leads directly towards anything, and I don’t think that pornography should be to blame for any illegal sexual acts.  I think this because porno’s aren’t the only types of films that you see harmful acts on women.  Those films aren’t being blamed for illegal acts.  I think that a pornographic film is just another type of film and is most likely non-fiction like most movies and shouldn’t be taking seriously and should just used for personal pleasure.

Online Cheaters

Interactive pornography, can it be considered sex?  I think that it can be, because sex is not just considered physical touching.  Now days there are other types of sex, such as cyber sex.  If a person is having cyber sex with a person, while he is seeing someone else, I would consider it cheating.  When someone is talking to someone else in that manner it can create a hunger for more and more until it may lead to actually meeting the person and actually lead to having an affair.  I also know of a website online that is totally interactive.  On this website you can view a girl or guy on a webcam and give them orders to please your personal needs.  Video chat is probably one of the most popular ways to have interactive sex online.  Also another way of having interactive sex online is with some new technology.  There are new sex tools that can be controlled by another user through the internet.  These new ways to have sex without actually seeing or meeting the person in person, are great advancements in technology, but do they follow human morals.

Violence and Porn!

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on April 10, 2006

Violent porn can have a negative effect on people.  Some studies have shown that after a person watches a violent pornographic film, that person is more than likely to act violent towards women.  This can be due too that the person may feel that women want to be raped, that women get some pleasure off from being raped.  I don’t believe this is true in all cases because I think that some people see a violent pornographic film and think wow that was crazy and morally wrong.  I think that a very few people will think of the pornographic film as a way to learn how to treat women.  More people would be watching the pornographic film that deals with a violent act, maybe by mistake or maybe because that person was curious on why people would do a violent act on women.  This also can work with women though, some pornographic films you see the women tying the men to the bed and whipping them.  This may be just because that person gets his tickles off from being whipped.  Doesn’t mean it is necessarily wrong, if both parties agree on the act than is it completely wrong?  I think that it should not even be considered violent and maybe more like a foreplay technique.  I think that it all depends on what the persons involved are feeling to depict if the act is violent or not.

Consequences!

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on April 10, 2006

Consequences dealing with the porn industry can be very intense depending on the crime.  There is many ways that producing porn can lead to a very bad crime.   Some crimes could be things such as child pornography, hidden camera’s, or even things such as rape.   Also is rape to blame for some sexual related crimes?  I think so, because when someone sees something in porn and enjoys it.  That person might take it to the next level, and make that act that happened in the video reality.  That is why I think that some types of porn should not be allowed.  Most aren’t allowed but are still out there.  There is probably no logical way that this can be stop because everyday people will do something illegal.  As said in lecture-19 porn is a gateway “drug”.  One type of porno leads to another and stronger type.   I think this could cause a person to do some pretty bad things when they get to the point that there isn’t any stronger or worse porn they can get.  Basically what is being said in the lecture is that one thing leads to another, and how some crimes can be put back on viewing porn.  This can be important when thinking about how high some crime rates are.  Because in this world today, what is saw on TV can interfere with ones thinking and cause some drastic behaviors.

How do Commercial’s effect children?

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on April 9, 2006

At the beginning of lecture 17, we saw two commercials that dealt with sex related topics.  Now, me being a college student, these commercials didn’t really have an effect on me, other than being extremely turned on with the first commercial and completely grossed out by the second one.  However, if I was a child and I saw this commercial I would mostly be confused, or even horrified.  The first commercial shows a very sexy girl in very skimpy clothing.  There are just some things children shouldn’t see, and also the references that they made to the male erection would not be appropriate for children.   I agree what the lecture said about how these commercials could have a negative social effect on some children.  Maybe there is a correct time and place for commercials of this sort, but these commercials should not be aired during a primetime event that many children would be watching.  For example Victoria Secret commercials are aired in the middle of the day, and many children witness these types if commercials.  These commercials exploit women, because “SEX SELLS” and even though they are only selling a product for women they are still corrupting young children.  Over all the commercials that deal with exploiting women should not be aired mid day when young children that are not mature enough are viewing.

Pornographic Spam!

Posted in Uncategorized by rkm4 on April 9, 2006

Pornographic spam is just another type of business that creates profit for a company.  The way a spam site works is how many people go to their site, which creates a profit for every visitor.  Is pornographic spam a good thing?  In my opinion I don’t think that this type of spam would help the fact that porn is a type of art.  This is because Spam is just to create money off from a site no matter if you like the material or not, if you visited the site that company gets paid for every hit.  Also as said in the lecture Spam doesn’t help the porn industry because Spam makes people angry.  Like for example when I check my email and there is a Spam site in there saying god knows what, I don’t even bother looking at them any more because I know what to expect.  It’s the same with every site and it just ruins the idea that porn is art, and creates a whole new mentality that porn is only about creating a profit.  The reason porn industries don’t like Spam is because it takes away from the business they should be getting and the profit they should be making.
